Adding event organiser Shelagh Jones seen here with Goldshield Elite, Sylvia Roberts & David Eagle to the mix, together with the opportunity to test Blood pressure ,receive top advice from Revenue & Customs expert Gill Prouse and then unwind by listening to top harp tutor Liz Westhead www.harpsinheather.co.uk  whilst discovering more about Stuart`s top work in Israeli occupied Palestine with donkeys, provided a series of top opportunities for checking out ace exhibitors and reiki practitioners. After the cancellation of 2007, ths year`s Cleveland show benefitted from perfect weather and a range of livestock and exhibitors which made for a super Saturday in Stewart Park Middlesbrough. As ever the Council marquee  www.middlesbrough.gov.uk proved a top exhibit with the library team in their full glory. Assistant Road Safety Officer Claire Ingram complemented her cycling colleagues as well as the recycling ones to perfection whilst Sylvia Roberts was fascinated by the garden design. Exhibitors in the poultry section came from as far afield as Halifax and Northumbria with an amazing range of birds from Transylvanian bare-necked ones to more traditional breeds. Making their Cleveland Show debut, it was marvellous to connect with the North East Life www.north-eastlife.co.uk dynamic duo of Liz Reekie and Trevor. The army was as expected in tip top form and Sylvia could`nt resist taking her turn in the Fire Engine- ( perhaps it`s something to do with uniforms ?! )before connecting once again with Health Fair exhibitors Forever Living ( don`t forget our next health fair is on Tues Sept 9th ! ) It was pleasing to see that Rosemary Billington brought her decoupage and planning expertise to her role as one of the key stewards in the craft section. Cacti and other delights were also in fine form . Back in the main ring Stephanie Towers and her team were admirably representing Redcar whilst further along a new champion goat was celebrating first prize after some very rigorous judging. With honey specialists and the usual Stewart Park James Cook Birthplace Museum also open, it was small wonder that Show Secretary Margaret Dale, Show Director Ian Bruce and Deputy Show Director David Turner  ( seen here with wife Elizabeth ) deserved full credit. Southside would like to congratulate Margaret in particular , as this is her last official show as secretary- well done one & all - A Cleveland Show podcast special will be available soon.

With top complimentary therapists, quality nutritional advice & the usual cornucopia of good stuff , the sixteenth Southside Health Fair effectively launched the Northern Summer season- well at least acting as a superb h`ors d`oeuvres for next week`s Lincolnshire Show & the July Great Yorkshire Show. With a magnificent seven Southsiders on ambassadorial duty, whilst Jon Ferguson took up an early studio berth as warm-up for `The Chaos Theory` with Andrew Snaith, the range of exhibitors and contacts was well up to par. Recent Honours Graduate in Music from Oxford Brookes University & top York correspondent Catrina Lakin ( congratulations Catrina ) took up her tasting duties with aplomb, whether vegetable with River Swale organic vegetables , fruit with seasoned tomatoes, or sweet, ably guiding newbie Owen Corrigan through the process. The amazing Shelagh Jones not only coordinated the event with effortless style but also found time to discuss catering matters with Georgina. Even Lloyds/TSB put in a brief appearance !. Discussing the way of the garden designer with ANCH ( Advanced National Certificate in Horticulure ) student from the University of Lincoln Lyn Gould  www.lincoln.ac.uk was just one of the ways Sally added to the experience whilst her former college Askham Bryan www.askham-bryan.ac.uk  simply basked in the delight of another award winning event.PR/Event officer Mary Bond was on top form as usual

Excellent to speak to Events organiser for the Redcar Half-Marathon Paddy Corcoran www.teesvalleyleisure.co.uk this week. Fresh from his latest riding exploits ace dial-a-vet Stuart Easby will be taking part in the half-marathon on Sunday April 20th with a team from TFM no less, whilst Southside will hopefully be represented by action-stunt coordinator extraordinaire Riky Ash. Thanks once again to Grand Central Rail, ace reporter Catrina Lakin made the journey this Friday with managing editor Alex Lewczuk to carry out another Capital based location report. Connecting with media legal expert and family law expert Denise Lester ( www.ouryclark.com ) who`s already working on her next correspondent essay not only brought some fascinating insights on the recent McCartney-Mills case but also celebrated the fact that Catrina & Denise are now into their second year with Southside. Relative newbies, but not the less greatly appreciated ace actress, singer and adventuress Charlotte Fortune who travelled in from Bristol for the day( before heading off to be directed by our very own legend Graeme Harper in the new series of Doctor Who in Cardiff  ) and writers & academics Alan Stevens & Fiona Moore who shared a blustery Piazza Cafe meeting which allowed Alan to demonstrate a classic pose from `The Schizoid Man` episode of `The Prisoner` ( only fitting since together with Fiona he wrote the unofficial guide to the series- Heaven only knows what pose he`ll come up with for their Battlestar Galactica text !) Catrina meanwhile replicated the classic Claire Sweeney pose from Covent Garde 2006 ( Get well soon Claire- tonsilitis and location reports don`t go well together )- audio for the above coming in podcast vol 30 !

The formidable team of ace southsider and curator / founder of the Aintree Grand National Museum Jane Clarke AND the only gentleman to both win and start a Grand National , Gerry Scott,  were among the star celebrity visitors and speakers at the first racing exhibition, held at the Ryedale Folk museum in Hutton le-hole ,& organised by Steve Varey and students at Lady Lumley School- who even designed their own silks.

With the Ryedale Folk Museum education team headed up by Rebecca Carver taking a keen interest in proceedings, a super weekend culminated with folk ranging from Lindsay & Gloria Charnock- racing agent and former jockey respectively who represent local riding legend Dave Allan amongst others , Zoe Horne from the Northern Racing College www.northernracingcollege.co.uk , top riders & correspondent from the Racing Post Tom Ryan, AND the ever entertaining Equicise Machine.

Whilst the talk as expected went swimmingly the day was also notable for connecting with top bloodstock agent Linda Sadler www.lindasadler.co.uk  who has recently moved back to the original home of racing from Newmarket & Tai Chi / Chi Kung /oriental health teacher Sandie Day who briefly dropped in and provided some super info on her forthcoming events.
