Full time Chaplain for the JCUH Rev Malcolm Masterman made his Southside debut on Sunday, and countryside correspondent Lew Bevan prepared for the Small lifestock extravaganza at Harrogate via a short trip to Utrecht.

Ingrid Tarrant hops to it at the Bradford Excel Small Animal Show

 

What’s happening:                Over 3,000 rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, mice and rats will be competing at the Bradford Excel Small Animal Show (27 and 28 January 2007), sponsored by Burgess Excel and Panacur Rabbit. It’s the Crufts of the small animal world and the culmination of National Rabbit Week (22 January – 28 January 2007)

 

                                                Celebrity and rabbit lover, Ingrid Tarrant, will be at the show to sign copies of her book – The Rabbit Whisperer.  TV vet, Matt Brash, will also be on hand to offer advice on rabbit welfare

The Bradford Excel Small Animal Show, sponsored by Burgess Excel and Panacur Rabbit, is taking place on Saturday 27 to Sunday 28 January 2007 at the Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate.

 

With over 3000 rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, mice and rats competing at the event over the two days, the Bradford Excel Small Animal Show really is the Crufts of the small animal world, and you can't afford to miss this spectacular gathering!

 

The event will enable visitors to meet more than 60 breeds of rabbits and there are also activities for all the family in the Excel Family Activity Area.

Marketing executive for Burgess Excel animal foods Rachel Reed proved to be a creative inspiration which led to the Media Matters team of  writer Dean Wilkinsonwww.deanwilkinson.co.uk   ) &  musician/Saturday Producer David Eagle developing an ode to Rachel, which was compiled line-by-line by actor/comedian Charlie Ross ( www.charlieross.co.uk ),actor/Lamda tutor Sarah Huntley, Actor/Radio producer Lisa Bowerman, Bafta award winning television Director Graeme Harper , Nottingham correspondent Jenny Kightley & actor Samantha Bond ( currently filming `The Sarah Jane Adventures` for BBC1, and supporting Alex Hanson in his West End role of Captain Von Trapp in `The Sound of Music`- well if you can be Miss Moneypenny for 4 Bond movies  & Lisa Shore in Distant Shores ! the von Trapps should be a doddle !)- The final version reads

What a way to promote National Rabbit week ( 22nd-28th January 2007 www.nationalrabbitweek.co.uk ), but at least we found out that rabbits have over seventeen thousand tastebuds combined to ten thousand in humans, something which even Stuart Easby ( www.1vet.info ) was unaware of when questioned by Craig Boddy, George Sunley, David Eagle &  newbie Adam Haycroft in `The Leisure Lounge`.

Meanwhile Shelagh Jones ( seen here with media advisor and Southside friend Mark Aldridge ) went `on location` to the University of Lincoln`s Siren Base ( home of Southside`s sister station Siren FM www.sirenonline.co.uk  ) to record another `Wheel of Life` with BAFTA award winning director Graeme Harper, who also met up with the managing editor of Siren, Andrew David,shared some thoughts on the future of the media with wife Bernadette Harper & Senior Lecturer in Media,Culture & Communications Dave Kenyon provided some input into the selection of the new Siren logo AND gave a fascinating lecture and seminar on his terrific work with Doctor Who-speaking of which !!

DIMENSIONS 2006 ( www.10thplanet.co.uk  ) proved to be the best ever -and thanks to Derek Hambley, Caroline & Paul  ( seen here with Salsa specialists Donna & Colin Piper )from Tenth planet who produced an amazing event at the Swallow Hotel in Stockton.Thanks also to Karen for her excellent work in the Green Room and indeed the whole Tenth Planet Team !
